BGTC at Martha’s Vineyard

Two years ago, we envisioned activating on the Vineyard in August, and now that vision has come to life. 

We are beyond grateful to the Martha’s Vineyard community for welcoming Black Girls Tennis Club with open arms in August 2024. Our time on the island was filled with rich experiences, from interviewing tennis legends and exploring Black tennis history at the MV museum and library, to hosting two unforgettable clinics. We learned so much about the deep-rooted Black tennis culture on the island and were honored to bring those stories full circle by documenting them while bringing the same vibrant energy back to the courts.

Hosting our first event at Niantic Park in Oak Bluffs was truly special, with people of all ages coming together for a day of tennis and connection. Our Mindful Play Clinic for Creatives with Paramount Content for Change and USTA was a beautiful morning of mindful play, meditation, and friendly competition, all set to great music, in Oak Bluffs at Farm Neck Tennis. It was a perfect way to bring together community and joy, and to celebrate our presence on the island.
